The Brady Lady Eagles faced off against the Twin Loup Wolves on Oct. 15 to kick off MNAC Conference action at Arnold. The Wolves got out ahead of the Eagles, and managed to stay there through all three sets, despite a rally in the final two.
Trinity Christophersen led the Eagles at the net with six kills, while Abby Jurjens commanded the serving line with 100% accuracy 10 serves. Sierra Carr pitched in with four blocks, Jurjens had eight digs, and Harley Bartels got her name on the board for seven assists. The Eagles’ hard work still fell short, and they lost in three sets to the Wolves, 12-25, 20-25, 18-25.
After the Thursday loss, the Eagles came home to play the consolation bracket against Cody-Kilgore and Sandhills-Thedford.
In a close game against the Cody-Kilgore Cowgirls, Brady lost the first set just 21-25. Rallying back in the second set, a pair of aces from Christophersen clinched a win for the Eagles, 28-26. The Cowgirls bounced back in the third, edging the Eagles out, 22-25.
Brady put up some big stats for the match, with Jade Wolf, Summer McConville, and Christophersen each contributing seven kills. Bartels led at the net with 34 ball handling attempts and 12 assists. Jurjens was solid in defense with 24 serve receives and 11 digs. Christophersen served at 100% on 17 attempts, and slammed six aces in the mix.
The final contest of the weekend came against Sandhills/Thedford. Brady fell in two sets, 12-25 and 19-25.
Christophersen handed in five kills, while Bartels added five assists. Three Eagle servers handed in 100% accuracy: Bartels, Jurjens, and Atkins. Jurjens also commanded the defensive side of the ball, with 23 serve receives and four digs.
