GHS One Act team headed to State!
After missing their first three competitions of the season due to quarantined members, the Gothenburg High School One Act Play team has had a very successful shortened season. Last week the team capped off that success by winning the B-6 district championship on Saturday, Dec. 5 in Sidney and stamping their ticket to the NSAA State Play Production Championships being held tomorrow, Dec. 11 in Norfolk. The GHS team is scheduled to perform at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Johnny Carson Theatre.
Several GHS actors were recognized with outstanding performances at the district competition. They were: Bronson Long, Jacob Burge, Gavin Foster, Riley Baker, Abigail Johnson, Sam Aden, Carson Lewis, Maverick Macek, Abigail Meyer, Helene Keiser, Emaleigh Rosse and Bailey Ryker.
Under the direction of Lori Long and Erin Feather, this year’s production is “Humbug! An Adaptation of A Christmas Carol” written by L. Henry Dowell. The team had their first opportunity to present their play in front of judges at the 12th annual Gothenburg Play Production Invitational on Nov. 17, and invited parents to watch during a special performance on Tuesday, Dec. 1. More than 80 Gothenburg students make up the cast and crew of the 2020 GHS One Act Play team.
