After a long hiatus, due in part to the global pandemic of 2020, the Gothenburg Community Playhouse was back on stage with a performance of Neil Simon’s classic “Barefoot in the Park”. Performances were held July 16, 17 and 18 at the Sun Theatre.

This particular play required a small cast, with only six actors - made up primarily of Gothenburg High School students and alum. The play is centered on the lives of a newlywed couple moving into their first apartment, and the trials they encounter during the early days of married life. The couple, Corie and Paul Bratter, were played by Eve Healey and Carsten Graves.

The remainder of the cast consisted of: Mrs. Bank, mother of the bride, played by Mashaela Foster; Victor Valesco, the eccentric upstairs neighbor, played by Maverick Macek; the telephone repair man, played by Gavin Foster; and delivery man played by Chris Atteberry. The play was directed by GPS alum Emma Jorgenson.
