Mayor Joyce Hudson announced the hiring of a new City Clerk/Treasurer to serve Gothenburg.
Misty Bussinger has accepted the position and is scheduled to start with the City on June 30.
She said she became interested in the job because of her experience, as well as adding more tools to her fully-loaded arsenal.
“I was interested in the position because I would be responsible for the administrative as well as the financial functions, which are skills I have developed over the past 10 years,” she said. “I look forward to mastering the municipal programs that Gothenburg has developed.”
Bussinger holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in Business Administration and Management. Her most recent position, held for the past 20 years, was focused on administrative and accounting responsibilities.
In addition to that experience, Bussinger has been a legal assistant, an HR manager and a senior accountant, all of which she said would benefit her in her new role at the City of Gothenburg.
Bussinger and her husband, Brian, have three children: Bryson, Camden and Brittlin. She has been a coach for her daughter’s volleyball, softball and basketball teams, has been the treasurer for the peewee wrestling team - a position she currently holds with the softball boosters.
“Misty will be a great asset for the City and the community,” said Mayor Joyce Hudson. “Her background is exceptional, and she has proven in her past positions to be successful in a wide range of areas.”
