The candidates for Gothenburg High School’s Coronation 2020 were announced on Friday, Jan. 31, in a special assembly in the school gym. The themes for the Spirit Week festivities, and the class representatives for Coronation, were also announced.

The candidates are Addisyn Gibbens, Jamie Graff, Bryn Schlake, Weston Jinks, Landon Platter and Brody Stienike.

Class representatives are: freshmen - Jacob Burge and Emily Cornwell; sophomores - Michael May and Helene Keiser; and juniors - Riley Baker and Ella Bartlett.

The king and queen will be crowned following the boys basketball game against Minden Saturday, Feb. 8. A dance will follow the crowning ceremony from 9 p.m. to midnight in the elementary gym. Admission to the semi-formal dance is $5 per person, and doors will be closed at 10 p.m.

During Spirit Week, being held this week at the school, students were invited to travel through time with a decade theme. Monday the theme was Roaring ‘20s; Tuesday was Greaser ‘50s; Wednesday Hippie ‘60s; and Thursday HipHop ‘80s and ‘90s. There is no school Friday due to parent teacher conferences.
