The Nebraska State Interscholastic Athletic Administrator’s Association has honored Larry Ostergard March 7 with an Oustanding Service Award for his assistance at Gothenburg Public Schools during activities.
Larry started running the clock for Gothenburg football games in 1970, missing only two games to attend Husker football games at Notre Dame and Austin, Texas. During that time, he also kept the book for the varsity basketball team from the 1979-80 season through the 1990-91 season, filling in occasionally after that.
Prior to that time, Larry helped pick or time runners at track meets until electronic timing took his place. He was a part of a small group who organized and began the Gothenburg Little League Baseball program and for more than 30 years, he coached baseball for the Little League and the Junior Legion Baseball program.
Larry was nominated by Gothenburg Public Schools Activities Director Marc Mrocezk.
