Each year the Gothenburg Noon Rotary Club sponsors a special project to connect families in need with compassionate donors during the Christmas season.
The Angel Tree is now up at the Edward Jones Financial office, 927 Lake Ave, and anyone interested in donating can stop in and pick a name from the tree.
“This is the sixth year we have had the tree here, and every year it grows. We get more and more names each year,” said Christy Aden of Edward Jones.
Aden credited Dan Kreis of Gothenburg Pharmacy with doing a large majority of the leg-work for the project. “He gathers the names and makes the tag, then brings them over for us to put on the tree,” she said.
In just the first few hours there were already 18 nametags on the tree. Aden said last year there were 55 names on the tree, each of which was the recipient of a special gift. The deadline to have the gifts brought back to Edward Jones is Dec. 13 to allow time to get them distributed for Christmas.
