Good Life

The future home of Good Life on the Bricks is located just west of Fresh Seasons Market and targets an opening date in the Spring of 2022.

Excitement mounted in Gothenburg last week, as ground was broken and the building delivered for the new Good Life Gothenburg.

After finding success with opening a BBQ restaurant in North Platte in July 2019, the Hiebner family - Royce and Brenda, and son Zach - are excited to be bringing a second location back home to Gothenburg. And with dirt work now underway, the dream is beginning to take shape.

“The dirt work that you’re seeing right now is preparing for the slab. However, before they pour the slab the city will bring in storm and sewer, and a few other things,” Royce explained. “We experienced multiple delays for multiple reasons. Everything from short staffing, communication issues, everything has just taken a little longer than we suspected.”

The new building itself will be a 70’x100’ which will accommodate seating for approximately 150-175. Folks enjoying the fare at the future Good Life Gothenburg will have menu choices that are not available at the North Platte location. “We will be adding a hood vent which will allow us to have flat tops and fryers that we don’t have there,” Royce explained. “So that will allow Zach to be a lot more creative with the menu.”

In a previous interview Zach shared a bit about the menu at the new restaurant. “We will still have the BBQ fusion mixed in, but we will have lots of burgers, seafood, pasta, steak and sandwiches also.”

The community has rallied around the Hiebner’s in showing their encouragement and excitement for the new business. “People have just been so supportive and so excited about it,” said Brenda. “That gives us a lot of energy to plow forward,” Royce added.

With an initial project completion date of late Spring 2022, and the current state of things Royce said that has become extremely difficult to target. “Three months ago we had a real good idea about when we would be opening but we really can’t say. It would be impossible to predict at this point. There will be some supply and equipment issues that we’ll encounter that we don’t even know about yet. We’re gonna push it forward as quickly as we can, but recognize that there are going to be some things that are out of our control and we’re just going to have to be patient with that.”

The new restaurant is being built just west of Fresh Seasons Market.

“Now it’s just a matter of keeping an eye on how things progress as everybody takes care of their respective responsibilities,” said Royce. “We’re just moving forward.”
