Doug Stratman passed away at UNMC in Omaha on March 17, 2021, three days after being diagnosed with cancer. He was 64 years old.

Doug was born March 28, 1956, in Grand Island. He lived in California for most of his life after his Dad moved the family there in 1967. Doug graduated from High School and was being scouted for professional football. He chose not to pursue that path because in his words, “Pro ball was just too serious and he just wanted to have fun.”

He Married and had a daughter, Érica. After many years working in the oil industry in both California and Texas, he moved with his family back to their roots in Nebraska.Living in Gothenburg he worked for Paulsen Inc. as a driver.

He had a love for Jeep’s and owned three different models including a 1953 Willy. If you saw him out and about it’s likely he was wearing his favorite outfit - tank top, military camo shorts and converse tennis shoes.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Érica.

He leaves behind a sister, Karen (Tom)Metcalfe; four grandchildren, Jesse, Arianna, Gabriel, and Sophia; and a nephew, Taylor (Taylor) Walker.

Inurnment will take place at a later date preceded by a private family memorial.
