John Evert, 78 of Brady, died Sept. 12, 2021, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. John was born April 6, 1943, in Hyannis, son of John Harvey and Lucille Bernice (Johnson) Evert.
He grew up in Hyannis graduating from Hyannis High School. Following high school he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. With a semester left in school he volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Army serving from June 21,1966, until June 20, 1968.
He married Bonnie L. Aubushon on April 22, 1972. They had two children, Nicole and Brandon. They later divorced. John worked with Simon Contractors as a mechanic in North Platte. John lived in Gothenburg from 1972 until 2011 when he moved to Brady.
He loved ranching and spending time with his grandkids and going to their sports activities. During the fall and winter months he loved to go shooting and hunting.
Survivors include a son, Brandon (Virginia) Evert of Brady; daughter, Nicole (Danny) Dishman of Grand Island; grandchildren, Austin and Bailey Dishman, and Clara, Grace and Emma Evert; brother, Lewis (Trudy) Evert of Brady, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Harvey Evert and Lucille Bernice Evert Jenkins.
Services were held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 16 with Greg Boller officiating. Burial was in the Gaslin Cemetery in Brady. Memorials may be given to the Brady Volunteer Fire Department. To sign the online guest book, go to www.blasestrauser.com
