Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at Farnam United Methodist Church for Ray Groenewold, 84, of North Platte, formerly of Farnam, who died Oct. 21, in North Platte.
The Rev. Neil Kloppenborg officiated. Interment followed in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Cozad.
Mr. Groenewold was born May 23, 1935, in Cozad, the son of Eddie Groenewold and Eva McCance. He grew up north of Cozad, attended country school and graduated from Cozad High. He spent his life in Dawson County except for the last two years, when he lived in North Platte.
He was a member of the Farnam United Methodist Church and worked as a house mover and carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Gerene Groenewold of North Platte; four sons, Rodney (Becky) Groenewold, William (Stephanie) McPeak of Ogallala, Daniel (Lori) McPeak of Farnam, and Timothy McPeak of Lincoln; daughter Georgette (Jim ) Flesch of Gothenburg; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Hintz.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Don Nichelsen.
