Rick L. Hite, 63, of Gothenburg died Oct. 20, 2020, in Gothenburg. He was born May 30, 1957, in Gothenburg, son of Stanley Lee and Shirley Ann (Aden) Hite.
Rick attended elementary school and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1975. He played football for Gothenburg while in school. After graduation he owned and drove his own truck, and also drove for NSG (Nebraska Salt & Grain), CO-OP and for Midwest Transport Company.
Rick married Esther "Chico" Garcia on Aug. 15, 1981, in Gothenburg, and was very proud of his three sons. Rick worked for the Dawson County Sheriff's Office in Lexington for 18 years. He received the "Medal of Valor" from the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office in April of 2011.
Rick enjoyed hunting season and especially deer, duck and geese. He took pride in teaching his children and grandchildren how to hunt. He loved to watch Nebraska football, ride his Harley, and watch wrestling.
Survivors include three sons: Travis (Teresa Ward) Hite of Gothenburg, Tyrel (Cindy Shirley) Hite of Cozad, and Toby Hite of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his wife, Esther "Chico" Hite of Gothenburg.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Shirley Hite.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 23 from 1 - 7 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg. Due to the current Covid health situation we ask that masks are worn.
Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Harvey Pierce officiating.
