Gothenburg’s Team GO has had a busy summer in the pool, competing in the Plains Tsunami Swim League.
June 26 saw Team GO host a meet at the Gothenburg Outdoor Pool and the Team GO swimmers defended their home pool well with the majority of GO swimmers placing in the top three of their age division races.
Sam Aden placed first in the 50 meter butterfly, 100 meter free, and the 50 meter short free in the 18 & Under division. He was also a part of the winning 18U 100 meter short free relay that included Audric Carlson, Landon Feather and Logan Feather.
The Plains Tsunami Swim League consists of 21 teams and more than 700 swimmers throughout Nebraska and Kansas.
The league has five host sites weekly for competition and each team has an opportunity to host at least one meet during the summer.
One of the goals of the league is to keep meets small enough that everyone has an opportunity to earn a ribbon and allow for the meets to be short enough to not encompass an entire weekend.
There are 134 events per meet with age divisions from 8 and under through 30 and over.
The cost of the league is $26 per swimmer for a season of seven meets per summer.
Team GO travels to the qualifying meet on July 11. As of this publication, the site is to be determined.
Those who compete in that meet on July 11 will swim to earn a spot at the state meet in McCook on July 18.
