After a season in which the Gothenburg volleyball team earned its way into the district final game, All-Conference honors have begun to roll in.
Freshmen setter Aubrey O’Hare and freshman hitter Clara Evert earned first-team All-Southwest Conference volleyball recognition and senior libero Jaiden Davis earned second-team honors.
Gothenburg volleyball head coach Bryson Mahlberg said that the honors, which are voted on by conference school head coaches, were exciting to see with two freshmen on the first team.
“I think first and foremost it shows that our other conference teams noticed the skill level of these two players,” he said. “Regardless of their age, those two players are very deserving of this honor and we look forward to having them in our program for three more years.”
Senior libero Jaiden Davis is capping her Swede career with her third selection to one of the All-Conference teams.
Mahlberg said the honor is more than deserving.
“I think this award culminates a great career with our program and once again shows that other head coaches noticed Jaiden’s play,” he said. “Jaiden developed into a great role model and leader throughout her career and provided a great example for our younger players to strive towards.”
