Our Education System By The Numbers

As children return to the classrooms of Gothenburg Public Schools this week, they are among the estimated 54.4 million students aged 3 years and older enrolled in K-12 across the United States.

Locals Fare Well at Cowboy Dressage Show in Lincoln

Cowboy Dressage World Nebraska held their annual schooling show, CDWN Roundup, last Friday and Saturday, Aug.7-8. A group of Dawson County horsemen and women made the trip to Lincoln to participate, many of them in their inaugural outing for the discipline.
Colten and Tabitha Venteicher happily announce the birth of a son on July 17, 2026, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Rocky Paul Venteicher was born weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces. He is welcomed home by siblings June, John, Ada, and Rosemary Venteicher. Also excitedly welcoming Rocky are his grandparents John and Danita Paul of Gothenburg, and Steve and Sue Venteicher of Omaha.

A crew from the City of Gothenburg was on scene early Saturday morning at Lake Helen after receiving word that the stage for Livin’ Out Loud had been blown down in the wee morning hours. The crew used a bucket truck to remove the lights from above the stage and helped stabilize the structure before returning on Sunday afternoon to assist with dismantling the wreckage. The Show Must Go On

Weather tried to stop it, but perseverance prevailed. Even without the big stage, the bright lights, and the booming sound system, Livin’ Out Loud 2026 happened. Thousands still came. Hearts were still touched.
