85, passed away on June 9, 2026, at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg. June was born on Dec. 26, 1940, in Gothenburg, to Myrton Mead and Dorothy Ann (Nichelson) Griffis.
After attending District 26 country school, she graduated from Cozad Public School. She married Arthur Davis on June 29, 1958, and the couple welcomed a son, Duane. Arthur passed away in January 1960.
On Sept. 17, 1961, June married Charles Brown, instantly blending their lives into a busy household of four children - his three daughters alongside her son. The family continued to grow with the addition of three more sons and another daughter. A dedicated homemaker, June raised her family across several Nebraska communities, including Cozad, Arnold, and Gothenburg, before settling in Brady in 1986.
In 1987, June began working as a cook at Slack's Nursing Home, and in 1990, she became the Dietary Manager at Linden Court. Following her retirement, she worked alongside Charles, raking hay in the fields.
The couple returned to Gothenburg in August 2015. Throughout her life, June found great joy in cooking, reading,
and solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
June was preceded in death by her best friend, lover, and husband, Charles Brown; her mother, Dorothy Harvey; her father, Myrton Griffis; brother, Roger Griffis; and sister, Lucille Peterson. June is survived by her children, Duane (Jeaninne) Davis of Brady, Roderick Brown of Brady, Chad (Patti) Brown of West Point, Utah, Travis (Tina) Brown of North Platte, and Heather (Kevin) Earll of Brady; step-children, Carol Lunkwitz, Charlene (Calvin) Krepcik, and Pollyanna Brown; 13 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Harold Brown of Macon, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 16, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating.
Burial was at the Brady Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Brady Volunteer Fire Department.
