Dolores A. Gronewold, 95, passed away on July 6, 2026, at Gothenburg Health. Dolores was born on April 7, 1931, in Gothenburg, to Leslie and Faye (Slack) Owings one of the four Owings girls.
She attended school in Gothenburg. She married Wayne L Gronewold on Aug. 9, 1947, at Gothenburg. The couple had one son, Mark. Dolores lived in the Gothenburg, Jeffery Lake and Brady area most of her life but also spent time in Red Cloud and Lexington.
Delores worked at Potters Pharmacy. She also spent many years as a waitress at Shores in Brady, Randazzle Cafe, and Walkers. She was a longtime member of the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. Dolores enjoyed bowling and dancing in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Gronewold in 2006; her parents, Leslie Owens and Faye and George Ferrell; her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Roger Booth; and brothers-in-law, Roger Anderson and Robert Lessing.
Dolores is survived by her son, Mark (Rae Ann) Gronewold of Griswold, Iowa; grandsons, Jake Gronewold of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Joel (Jessica Stieb) Gronewold of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn Riggs, Cobe Gronewold, Rylie Gronewold and Cooper Stieb; sisters, Sherrill Lessig of Grand Island and Marlene Anderson of Kearney; stepsister, Judy Alvis of Kansas; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Graveside services were held Monday, July 13, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Memorials may be made to the Gothenburg Senior Center.
