Frances Charlene Sawyer

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Frances Charlene Sawyer on July 16, 2026, at the age of 87. Frances was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Born on March 8, 1939, in Roundup, Montana, Frances was the daughter of the late Charles Allen and Aleen Moore. She graduated from Great Falls High School. She later married and moved to Massachusetts where she had three children. After several years, she returned to Gothenburg in 1970 to be closer to family. Frances enjoyed growing plants, sewing, word search puzzles, reading, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include daughter, Connie (Steve) Thompson of Ashford, Alabama; sons, David Moore (Luisa) of Cota, Columbia, and Steven Sawyer (Nim) of Parker Colorado; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard (Donna) Moore of North Platte; sister, Jolita Moore of Kingsport, Tennessee, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Allen and Aleen Moore; brothers, David Moore and Roy Allen Moore; and sister, Connie Morton.

A memorial service to celebrate Frances’ life will be held on July 31, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Gothenburg. A reception will follow, providing an opportunity for friends and family to gather and remember Frances. Arrangements have been entrusted to Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel & Monuments of Gothenburg.

Frances will be deeply missed.
