The Brady volleyball team opened its 2026 season with a battle on the road Thursday, Aug. 27, taking Anselmo-Merna to five sets before falling 3-2.
The match went back and forth throughout the night, with neither team able to win consecutive sets. Anselmo-Merna took a close first set 27-25 before Brady answered with a 26-24 win in the second.
The Coyotes regained the lead with a 25-19 win in the third, but the Eagles responded once again, taking the fourth set 25-19 to force a deciding fifth set.
Anselmo-Merna pulled away in the final set, winning 15-8 to take the match.
Despite the loss, the five-set opener gave a young Brady team an early opportunity to compete in a tight match. The Eagles entered the season with several freshmen stepping into varsity roles alongside their returning varsity …
