88, formerly of Maxwell, died May 10, 2026, in Westminster, Colorado at home surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was born July 8, 1937, in Gothenburg, daughter of Per Hilding and Hanna Brigritta Nilsson Pearson.
She grew up on a farm and ranch north of Brady in Wild Horse Valley and attended elementary school at Spannuth. In her teen years, Hildur actively helped on the family farm and ranch, especially during the years her older brother was serving in the Army during the Korean Police Action. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in the class of 1955. After graduation, she worked in Gothenburg as a secretary in the law office of Keith Windrum until 1961.
On Aug. 4, 1961, she was united in marriage to Duane Malm at Svea Dal Covenant Church north of Brady. To their union, three children were born: Leonard, Viola, and Linda. Hildur became a homemaker as her husband farmed in nearby areas of Darr and North Platte. They eventually settled south of Maxwell on the Malm family farm, where they owned and operated a dairy for a few years. They lived there until 1990, when the family moved into the village of Maxwell. Duane and Hildur enjoyed over 50 years of marriage until Duane went to be with the Lord in 2012.
Along with her family over the years, Hildur attended First Baptist Church in Maxwell until 2014, at which time she moved to Gothenburg, living independently for the next 11 years, where she met many new friends and reunited friendship with folks she had known in her earlier years. She attended the First Baptist Church in Gothenburg until moving to Colorado in October 2025 to live with her daughter and family. Revive Church in Arvada brought special blessings and new connections to her during her time in Colorado. Hildur was a praying friend, concerned for the well-being of others, even those she would only briefly meet.
Acknowledging the intrinsic worth of every individual she encountered was very important to her. Hildur had a witty sense of humor and loved laughter. She treasured time and phone calls with family the most. She liked to walk and had also enjoyed spending time outdoors walking with family and friends in recent months. Survivors include two daughters, Viola McCown of Maxwell, and Linda (James) Blaszkowski of Westminster, Colorado; six grandchildren, Emma McCown of Maxwell, David McCown of Maxwell, Elizabeth McCown of Chadron, Malachi (Taylor) Blaszkowski of Pueblo, Colorado, Caleb Blaszkowski and Titus Blaszkowski of Westminster, Colorado; sister-In-law, Marjorie Kuhlman of Gothenburg; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Hildur was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane Malm; son, Leonard Malm; infant brothers, Gosta Gunner Pearson and Martin Harold Pearson; brother, Erik Willard Pearson; sister-in-law, Esther Carolyn Pearson; and son-in-law, Ed McCown.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg from 2-4 p.m. with the family present. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at the Maxwell Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
