Roger W. Tederman formerly of Gothenburg, passed away in Lincoln on Tuesday, July 22, 2026, surrounded by his children.
Born May 16, 1941, in Gothenburg to Clarence and Lela (Bierhaus) Tederman, Roger grew up on a farm northeast of Gothenburg.
After graduating from Gothenburg High School in 1959, he spent a semester at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. His takeaways from that semester were a love of Valentino’s pizza and ice cream from the Dairy Store.
He returned to Gothenburg and began working at the Co-op. Roger married his high school sweetheart, Rosalie Bode, in 1962. Over the years, they lived in Gothenburg, Cozad, Sargent, Grand Island, and North Platte, returning home to Gothenburg in 1990. Recently, Roger moved to Lincoln to live near his son’s family.
As a young man, Roger did many jobs in the Co-op as he was taking management classes. Eventually, he became the branch manager in Cozad. In 1972, he accepted the position as general manager at Midstate Co-op in Sargent.
After leaving there in 1985, he worked in fertilizer and ag chemical sales for several companies before retiring. He also owned a corn farm northeast of Gothenburg, which became his focus during retirement.
Over the years, he was an active volunteer, especially through his churches, including Westcott Baptist Church in Comstock, First Baptist Church in Gothenburg, and The Crossing Fellowship in Gothenburg, where he and Rosalie were among the founding members.
He also served on the Board of Directors for the Midway Wildlife Club, the Nebraska Cooperative Council, and the Baptist General Conference. Roger was always happy to visit with folks over a cup of coffee, especially about farming. He loved driving his Avalanche and checking the fields, flying his Cessna, and driving his boat at Midway Lake. His kindness and generosity were felt by his family, friends, and many in the community. An active grandpa, Roger could often be seen at his three grandchildren’s sporting events or pulling them on the tubes behind his boat. In the last few years, he has enjoyed meeting his great-grandchildren, who he referred to as the “littles.”
Roger is survived by children, Elizabeth (Gary) Roe of Glendale, Arizona and Russell (Jo) Tederman of Lincoln; grandchildren, Vic (Monisha) Roe, Nate (Emily) Tederman, and Jenna (Joe) Vinton; three great-grandchildren, Malia Roe, Malakai Roe, and Lainey Tederman; younger brothers, Lane (Pat) Tederman and Dale (Dee) Tederman; sister-in-law, Cleta McCann; brother-in-law, Charles (Kittie Lou) Bode, and many nieces and nephews.
Roger’s beloved wife, parents, and in-laws preceded him in death.
