Grueling Schedule Kicks Off Swede Softball

The Gothenburg Swede softball team has started its season in a fast and furious fashion, playing eight games in nine days. The girls started their season on Thursday, Aug. 20, in McCook, taking on the Class B Bison.

The first inning started strong for the Swedes. A double by Brittlin Bussinger, followed by a single by Taye Herrick, saw the Swedes put the first point on the board in the game. The bottom of the first saw the Swedes fielding, only allowing a single runner to make it on base for the Bison. Heading into the second, the Swedes led McCook 1-0. A quick 3-up, 3-down for the Swedes at bat brought them back to the field, where big hits to the outfield and numerous fielding errors brought 17 points onto the board for McCook to give them the win.
