Swede Softballers Stick Together During Tough Week

It was another hot, busy week for the Lady Swede softball team. On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Swedes hosted one of their two home games of the season, meeting the Ord Chanticleers in a varsity-only match. The bats of the Chants were hard for the Swedes to handle, putting 17 runs on the board, largely due to the fielding errors that continue to plague the Swedes. Junior Briony Aden led the Swedes at the plate, going 2 for 2 at bat. Kiera Sukup and Elsie Gronewold were the only other Swedes who managed to record a hit in the game, with Kiera Sukup driving in the only RBI of the game.

Coming off their home field loss, the Swedes had a day of practice and then traveled to Lexington on Thursday, Sept. 3, taking on the Minutemaids for a second time this season. Sukup started on the mound for the Swede…
