After a week off from game play, the abrupt shift in weather on Saturday, Sept. 12, threatened to give the Lady Swede softball team a few extra days off. The Swedes were scheduled to start the Cozad Invitational on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in a match against the host school, but field conditions and ongoing rain left the Swedes and the invite in limbo. Deboarding the bus at 8 a.m., the Swedes spent the morning team bonding while waiting on any word of a start time. The call eventually came in and the invitational kicked off four and a half hours late, starting at 2 p.m., with a shortened bracket, cutting off the final games of the day.
