The Gothenburg Junior Melons had a big second inning in Broken Bow on Monday, June 1, coming up with 6 runs on their way to a dominant 11-3 win. The Melons finished the game with 12 hits.

Nation’s Legendary Wrestlers Coming to Gothenburg

Gothenburg High School wrestling coach Tom Scott says he had a vision for several years of creating a camp that would equip young wrestlers in Gothenburg and the surrounding area with skills and techniques to help make them better at their sport.

Local Athletes Selected for NPCC All-Star Game

North Platte Community College hosted its second annual Black & Gold High School All-Star Game on June 6. The event showcases outstanding student-athletes from across western Nebraska and northeastern Colorado, all of whom were nominated by their high school coaches.

Three GHS Seniors End Tennis Careers in Lincoln

After a long season that saw immense growth in a young team, the Lady Swede tennis season came to an end in Lincoln on Tuesday, May 26 at the state tournament. While no medals were brought home, the Swedes fought hard against tough competition, showing true grit and determination.

Indianhead Golf Club in Grand Island was the site of the 2026 NSAA High School State Boys Golf Championships, with Class C taking the course for two days of competition.The first round was played on Wednesday, May 27, for the Swedes, who qualified as a team for the tournament.

First Game Jitters Lead to Big Time Bounce Back

The Gothenburg Melons kicked off their season this past weekend with games against Holdrege and Imperial.The Melons traveled to Holdrege on May 29, where they were anxious to begin the season.In the top of the first inning, Callen Johnson led off with a double on the first pitch.

Swedes Earn Trip to State Golf Behind Pfeifer’s Silver Medal

The Gothenburg boys’ golf team made a return trip to Crandall Creek Golf Course in Ogallala on Wednesday, May 20 - one of 15 teams to take the course in the C-5 District Meet.

The Gothenburg High School men’s track and field team has enjoyed a remarkable season, and capped it off last week with a third-place team finish and two state champions at the Nebraska State Track & Field Championships.
