After Cindy and I had been married a year, I went to work during the summer for her father. He had a farm here in the valley and a ranch in Custer County. He took me north and showed me around; where all the windmills were, the roads, gates, and buildings, etc. He also showed me what he wanted me to do. So, the next day I headed to the ranch. I got a gift! I pulled off the blacktop and right there sunning itself was a prairie rattlesnake…a buzz tail. Dean had told me to be aware that rattlers were at the ranch, but I didn’t think I would be lucky enough to see one the very first day!
Yes, I said “lucky enough”. I love snakes and I have had “pet” snakes almost all of my life…until recently when Cindy said, “enough is enough”. I even kept rattlesnakes.
