The Aug. 18 meeting of the Gothenburg City Council opened with a public hearing on a request for a Class 1 liquor license for a new business in Gothenburg. Dan and Amy Wenger appeared before the council requesting approval of the license for their new establishment called Wingdings, which will be located in the former Pete’s Lounge building. A couple of the council members had questions for the Wengers, including, more specifically, what kind of business this would be. Amy explained it will be a sports bar with typical “bar food” such as burgers and sandwiches, with the primary fare being wings. The council unanimously approved the application.
