The Gothenburg City Council conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at noon for the purpose of presenting the final property tax request and levy for the City’s 2026-27 budget. No one from the public was present for the hearing.
City Administrator Gary Greer began by reminding the council that state law requires the City to hold a public hearing for the tax request and levy, and must be held on a separate date from the meeting to approve the budget. The personal and real property tax amount the City of Gothenburg is requesting for the 2026-27 budget is $1,280,251.50. Greer said that is approximately two percent above last year.
