It was a busy week for the Gothenburg varsity volleyball team with a home game against Ord, a road game at South Loup, and a tournament in Cozad. The Lady Swedes went 3-2 on the week.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Ord Chanticleers came to town and proved to be a tough opponent. The first set remained fairly close throughout, with neither team showing particular dominance over the other. Ord ultimately won the set, 25-21.
The Chants created a wider gap in the next two sets, however, taking the second 25-18, and set three, 25-16 to sweep the Lady Swedes.
Zoe Beveridge and Lauren Mroczek teamed up to lead the Swedes’ attack with 7 and 6 kills respectively. Lily Fritton added 4 kills, and Greer Tiller and Riley Flesch each had 2 kills in the match.
