Last week, we reported on the public question-and-answer session related to the Gothenburg Public Schools budget and tax request that preceded the Sept. 14 board meeting. As the board convened for its regular meeting following the budget discussion, the majority of community members in attendance left; however, the board did have several items of business to attend to.
The meeting began with Dudley Elementary Principal Josie Floyd presenting on programs being implemented at the elementary level to help improve student literacy. She was joined by Mandy Holsten, children’s librarian at the Gothenburg Public Library in a discussion on the benefits of the entities working together, and two littles who shared with the board how much they love reading books.
