The Gothenburg varsity cross country team continued its impressive season last week with a very tough competition at the prestigious UNK Invite in Kearney on Monday, Sept. 28. The Swedes brought home several medals, including women’s gold, and finished as women’s team runner-up. The men’s team finished in third place in the final standings.
The men’s race was a tight one with only 24 seconds separating the first place runner from the fifth place finisher. Senior Tyler Hetz led the Swedes with a time of 16:37.9 to earn the bronze medal. Just four seconds behind him in fourth place was junior Bryson Neels with a time of 16:41.4.
Freshman Blake Finke also had a good day, coming in 11th place with a time of 17:22.3. Rounding out the men’s team were: Trenton Miller, 19:18.6; Lucas Therrien, 19:24…
