The Gothenburg varsity volleyball team had a busy week last week, playing five games during three days. It was a very successful week for the Lady Swedes, as they won four of the five and narrowly missed sweeping the week.
The action began on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when the Swedes traveled to Amherst to face a tough Broncos team that has lost only three matches this season. The Swedes did not seem intimidated by that fact, however, as they came out firing to win the first set, 25-20.
The Broncos made some adjustments in set two, but Gothenburg did not give up much ground. Amherst took the second set 25-21. The Swedes came back in the third with renewed energy, getting some good shots and playing strong defense to win the set 25-19 and take a 2-1 advantage in the match.
