I never thought sandwiches would profoundly teach me a lesson about boundaries.Lunch was ready. Everyone had contributed something: three types of bread, two kinds of meat, and three cheeses. As people began building their sandwiches, I was shocked by my internal reaction.

July is Busy Month of Area Celebrations And Events

The next few days will be filled with celebrations and events to commemorate our nation’s 250th birthday. Here is a reminder of some of the activities taking place in our area this weekend, as well as some upcoming events you may want to add to your calendar.
Work is underway at Lafayette Park on additional improvements. A new well has been installed, a new building is under construction, and charges are being made in the pavilion. Dr. Birkofer, chairman of the Park Committee, reported the erection of a bunk house and kitchen at Lafayette Park, the enclosing and screening of the pavilion and the grading with the cooperation of the Gothenburg Light & Power Co. of the road west and north of the lake. The pavilion was constructed in 1923.

I walked a 1.5 mile trail near the campground through shady wooded areas that eventually opened into prairie land. While the terrain remained steadily flat, the landscape morphed throughout the walk. As I passed a lake, I noticed wildflowers growing along the path in vivid color.

New In-Home Daycare Gets Council Approval

The green light has been officially given for a new daycare in Gothenburg.At the June 15 meeting of the Gothenburg City Council, Jaycee Anderson presented a formal request for a special use permit to operate a licensed in-home daycare at her residence at 612 Washington Street.
