Swede Softball Wraps Up Regular Season Play

The Gothenburg Swede varsity softball team has rounded out their regular season game play. What was supposed to be one of the busiest weeks of the season for the Swedes, ended up being cut short with the Adams Central Invitational being canceled due to wet field conditions after days of rain.

On Monday, Sept. 21, the Swedes loaded up and made the trek to Hastings to take on the Patriots of Adams Central. Senior Taye Herrick started on the mound for the Swedes, giving up 11 runs on 7 hits with only 3 being earned. Big bats and a couple of home runs gave the Patriots the edge, out-scoring the Swedes 15-2. Herrick recorded the lone RBI in the game.

With only a single strikeout recorded, the Swedes were finding the ball at the plate, but the Adams Central fielding was solid.
