In true Nebraska fashion, an abrupt shift in temperature gave the Swede softball team some reprieve from the heat, but added challenges with wet conditions.
On Tuesday, Sept. 15, the Swedes headed to Kearney to take on the Kearney Catholic Stars. Senior Taye Herrick took the circle for the Swedes, giving up 10 runs on 10 hits, with 5 being earned.
Fielding errors on the right side of the field matched with big hits from Kearney Catholic gave the Stars an early lead in the game. A 3-run homerun in the bottom of the third sealed the game for Kearney Catholic giving them a 10-0 lead.
