The Gothenburg men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled east to Geneva on Thursday, Sept. 17, for a tough Fillmore Central Invitational meet featuring several highly ranked teams. The Swedes came home with both the men’s and women’s gold medals.
Gothenburg junior Bryson Neels was the men’s gold medalist on the day with a time of 16:25.93. He outran the rest of the field by nearly 13 seconds. Tyler Hetz ran a time of 16:49.29 to finish in fourth place, while freshman Blake Finke cracked the top 20 with a time of 17:47.1, good for the 18th spot.
Also running for the GHS men were Lucas Therrien with a time of 18:51.08; Jackson Reidy with a time of 19:04.56; and Ryun Tonniges with a time of 19:53.18. There were a total of 98 competitors in the men’s field.
