First Game Jitters Lead to Big Time Bounce Back

The Gothenburg Melons kicked off their season this past weekend with games against Holdrege and Imperial.The Melons traveled to Holdrege on May 29, where they were anxious to begin the season.In the top of the first inning, Callen Johnson led off with a double on the first pitch.
Scout Bell finished the season with her best time of the year in the 3200m and a personal best time in the 1600m in Omaha.

After a banner season on the track, four Brady Eagles wrapped up their 2026 season with a trip to Omaha May 22-23 to compete in the state track championships. Two of those competitors came home with hardware for their efforts.

Brady BOE Accepts Library Project Bid at May Meeting

The Brady Public Schools Board of Education approved more than $390,000 in May claims, heard updates on summer programs and facility projects, and accepted a bid for remodeling the former library space during its regular meeting May 11.

Gothenburg senior Evan Johnson will be making his third trip to the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships in Omaha this week. However, this year is different. This year, Evan will be competing with - and against his little brother.

During the Gothenburg High School spring sports program held Monday, May 11, a number of Swede senior athletes were recognized as 12-sport athletes.To achieve that, students must participate in three sports each year throughout their high school career.
