Lady Swedes Face Tough Competitors at York Invite

Thanks to Mother Nature, the Lady Swedes tennis team had a shorter-thanplanned week last week. The Swedes were scheduled to head to Holdrege for a junior varsity and varsity dual with the Dusters on Tuesday, May 5, but that match was canceled due to inclement weather.

Bartels Swings For All-Conference

Broken Bow was the host site for the 2026 Southwest Conference golf meet on Thursday, May 7. McCook claimed the conference team championship, with the host team Broken Bow finishing as team runner-up. Cozad’s Ethan Atchison recorded the low individual round of the day with a 77.

GHS Women Claim SWC Championship, Men Take Runner-Up

Cozad was the host site for the 2026 Southwest Conference Track and Field Champions held on Saturday, May 2, and it was another great day to be a Swede!The Gothenburg women’s team finished as Conference Champions, while the men ended the day as Conference Runner-Up.

Swedes Take Third in Tough Holdrege Golf Invite

The Gothenburg varsity men’s golf team had a good showing last week, as they finished in third place overall in the team standings at the Holdrege Duster Invite on Tuesday before taking on their in-county competition on Friday.

Busy Week For Swede Tennis as Season Winds Down

As the Lady Swedes tennis team passes the halfway point in their season, the meets and the competition are picking up. The Swedes had a busy schedule last week, traveling to Kearney on Monday, April 27, for the East/ West Shootout and then to Hastings on Friday, May 1, for the Tiger Invite.

Eagles Nab Medals at MNAC Meet

The Brady Eagles made the short trip north to Arnold to compete in the 2026 MNAC Track & Field Championship last Friday, May 1. In a field of eight teams, the boys’ small but mighty team landed in 5th place while the girls placed 3rd thanks to a slew of gold medals on the day.

Warner Brings Home Hardware at State Trap

The Gothenburg Trap team headed east for the final time this year to crush some clays at the 56th Annual Cornhusker Trapshoot, put on by Nebraska Game and Parks in Doniphan. This event hosts over 2,000 middle and high school shooters, not only from Nebraska, but from across the nation.
